Terms & Conditions of Training with Listen Dog Training
It’s really important that you read through the below information so that we can get started with the fun stuff! Please note that payment for service implies your full agreement to our terms and conditions of training, as set out below.
The below terms and conditions apply to all sales and services of Lisa Burton, o/a Listen Dog Training.
Training and Handling:
Our (Listen Dog Training) approach to dog training methodology is based on the principle of scientifically-backed positive reinforcement, and, as accredited members of the PPGBI, we do not support the use of training aversives designed to purposely cause fear or pain in dogs. As such, any harsh handling of dogs, use of punitive methods, or equipment designed to be aversive (inclusive of, but not limited to: prong collars, choke chains, e-collars) is not permitted to be used during our training sessions.
Listen Dog Training does not accept responsibility for your interpretation or application of any training advice given. Training plans, for the most part, will not be successful overnight. Due to the variables present between all individual animal training cases, as well as external influencing factors beyond our control, the success of training and behaviour work cannot be guaranteed with any animal. Listen Dog Training will not be held responsible under any circumstance to the client for a lack of time, effort or commitment.
Listen Dog Training reserves the right to refuse to provide service, at its own discretion.
Payment and Refund:
Listen Dog Training will issue you with an invoice (via email) at the time of booking, which must be paid via BACS.
All booked training sessions and packages – whether delivered online or in person – must be paid for, in full, at least one week prior to the date of delivery.
All class packages must be paid for, in full, before the commencement of your first class.
Ideally, classes should be delivered one per week for the complete number of consecutive weeks your class includes (i.e. a 9-class course should be delivered over 9 weeks) however there is room for flexibility to accommodate holidays, illness etc. on either side.
Cancellation or Rescheduling:
To receive a full refund, you must cancel your booked session at least 48 hours prior to the date of delivery. Refunds for sessions cancelled any later than this are delivered at the sole discretion of Listen Dog Training, and only in exceptional circumstances.
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a session due to unforeseen circumstances, we will make every effort to reschedule at a mutually convenient time. If this is not possible, we will provide a full refund for the cost of that individual session.
Listen Dog Training reserves the right to terminate any training agreement at its discretion if the client fails to pay, or breaches any terms of the agreement.
If you wish to delay or re-schedule a session, please inform us of this at the earliest available opportunity, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Safety & Responsibility:
Listen Dog Training encourages clients to contact their veterinary practitioner prior to attending a training session or putting any advised training into effect, if they have any concerns.
Any instances of accident or injury during a training session must be reported to the trainer immediately, so they can be recorded at the time of occurrence.
The safety and behaviour of the client’s dog, whilst on or off Listen Dog Training property, either before, during or after a training session with us, is the owner/handler’s responsibility, at all times. As the owner/handler, you are fully responsible for your dog’s wellbeing, as well as the safety and wellbeing of others (people, animals and property) in relation to your dog’s behaviour, at all times.
Owners/handlers are advised to ensure they have adequate pet or household insurance cover for liability, in the unlikely event that damage, loss or injury is caused by their dog to a property or third party.
Health and Vaccination:
Listen Dog Training cannot ever guarantee that there is zero risk of contagious disease or parasite at our training venue, in which multiple dogs have been present. Therefore, all dogs and puppies that train with us should be suitably protected from this potential risk, as well as adequately treated for internal and external parasites, as per the recommendations of your veterinary professional.
It is the owner / handler’s responsibility to ensure the dog is adequately protected; Listen Dog Training accepts no responsibility for the potential or actual exposure of dogs to disease or parasite.
Please advise us before the start of your session if your dog has been in contact with another dog known to be infected with a contagious disease, or if your dog is showing any signs of illness (including, but not limited to: vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, etc.) as cancelling or rearranging the session may be required.
If your dog has any known allergies, intolerances or special requirements, it is the owner/handler’s responsibility to verbally highlight these at the beginning of each training session to ensure your trainer is aware.
Privacy:
On occasion, video or photography of your training session may be taken for the purposes of marketing. Likewise, any verbal or written feedback you provide (comments, reviews, etc.) may also be shared for marketing purposes. If you are not happy for any of this content to be shared, please inform Listen Dog Training. If you wish to capture any photography or video footage during a training session, you may do so only with the express permission of Listen Dog Training.
Disclaimer:
Whilst we do our best to ensure the safety of all our clients – both human and canine – during any training session with Listen Dog Training, by booking a session with us, you accept that the participation in any activity involving people and dogs poses a risk of injury to any and all individuals involved. By choosing to train with us, you agree to indemnify Listen Dog Training from and against any and all damages, losses, liabilities, illnesses, injuries or death which might occur as a result of you and your dog attending such sessions. It is also your responsibility to make any person accompanying or replacing you for any session, aware that they do so at their own risk.
You understand and accept that your dog’s actions, behaviour, health and wellbeing remain entirely your responsibility at all times, regardless of the presence or advice of your trainer or behaviourist.
